Trustee Diversity

At School-Home Support (SHS), equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are central to our vision that ‘every child has the support they need to thrive and achieve’. We are committed to creating a diverse workforce and Trustee board that is representative of the communities we support, and an inclusive culture where all our staff can thrive and reach their full potential.

Our diversity and inclusion strategy has 3 key priorities that we are focusing on:

1. Increase representation and work towards a more diverse workforce
2. Foster a positive working environment that recognises and values difference
3. Remove barriers to engagement for service users and increase the accessibility of our services

This work is overseen by our EDI working group, made up of a diverse range of representatives across the organisation, including our EDI Lead Trustee. The group is responsible for driving forward improvements across the organisation, including at a senior and trustee level.

Trustee Diversity Audit November 2023

SHS understands that a diverse board of trustees can improve the discussions and decision-making . With our trustee recruitment mirroring the staff recruitment process, we actively seek a diverse group of candidates.

A skills and diversity audit is carried out in advance of recruiting any trustee to the Board.

Every three years we complete a trustee diversity audit so we can evaluate the diversity of our trustees and where we can aim to improve.
