We are incredibly grateful to Vanquis Bank‘s Chatham office for hosting an unforgettable aspiration day for children at one of our partner schools. Our partnership with Vanquis helps to inspire and motivate children and advocates for equal opportunities. This aspiration day encouraged children from all backgrounds to raise their aspirations and recognise their potential.
The day started with an overview of what Vanquis Bank does, and the variety of roles available within the office. We were lucky to be joined by a number of volunteers who outlined their roles, and how they use maths within their jobs and day to day lives.
The children were then tasked with a financial literacy challenge, with the brief to plan a Birthday party within a specific budget. It was a group task that required good teamwork, negotiation and persuasion to organise the perfect event without spending too much! Following the presentation of their ideas, they were asked to think about the skills they’d used, and how they may need some of those skills within the working world.
The children then enjoyed lunch in the staff cafe before going on a tour of the offices. The tour gave the children a chance to see even more job roles available within the Bank and hear from more employees.
The day finished with a presentation of certificates before the children headed back to school.
It was a memorable day for all involved with many children asking if they could come again next year! Thank you Vanquis Bank for this amazing opportunity that has encouraged children to think more about their future job prospects and the skills needed to achieve them. The session was also in line with Vanquis’ mission to help build a future where every child and young person in the UK is supported to achieve their full potential.
