Why is menopause support in the workplace important?
Everyone who goes through menopause can experience it differently. Symptoms can be physical, such as hot flushes, headaches, poor sleep and erratic periods, or psychological, such as anxiety, low mood, lack of confidence and poor concentration.
Menopausal women are the fastest growing demographic in the workforce.
- According to the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM), nearly 8 out of 10 menopausal women are in work.
- 3 out of 4 women experience symptoms. 1 in 4 could experience serious symptoms.
In recognition of the importance of menopause support in the workplace, School-Home Support have signed the Menopause Workplace Pledge. The Menopause Workplace Pledge is led by Wellbeing Of Women. It is a commitment and intention to work toward a more inclusive, supportive and understanding workplace environment for our staff experiencing perimenopausal or menopausal symptoms.
