We are very grateful to Panmure Liberum for hosting a motivational aspiration day for children at one of our partner schools. Our partnership with Panmure Liberum helps to support children and their families and overcome some of the barriers to education.
This aspiration day encouraged children from all backgrounds to raise their aspirations, recognise their potential and learn a little more about what working in Investment Banking involves!
The day started with an overview of what Panmure Liberum does and the variety of roles available within the business. COO Matt Press received a grilling from the audience and answered questions around what investment means and how trading works (and what he likes doing in his spare time!). When asked what advice Matt would give to the children, Matt replied ‘Work hard, be curious and don’t give up your ambitions’.
We were lucky to be joined by Lee Hales, Director, Equity Trader at Panmure Liberum who led a fun trading game involving old foreign money and the children learnt about currency and trading. This was followed by some mindful and reflective tasks led by our partner charity Place2Be. The children learnt about colour and which colours represented different feelings and emotions to them individually.
The children then enjoyed lunch in the staff cafe and were joined by a variety of representatives from the business including graduates who were in their first year of work at Panmure Liberum and were able to share what their journey from university to work had entailed. This was then followed by a tour of the offices. The tour gave the children a chance to see even more job roles available within Panmure Liberum, hear from more employees and see some trading in action!
It was a memorable day for all involved with one pupil saying he didn’t want to leave! Thank you Panmure Liberum for this amazing opportunity that has encouraged children to think more about their future job prospects and the skills needed to achieve them. The session was also in line with Panmure Liberum’s mission to help us to get children back to school and give them the best possible start in life so that all children have access to the education they deserve and the skills and resilience to build the best future for themselves.
