School-Home Support would like to say a huge thank you to our fantastic corporate partner Vanquis Banking Group for hosting an aspiration day for some of the young people we support. Students from one of our partner schools were invited to attend their Moneybarn offices (part of Vanquis Banking Group) based in Petersfield to learn about the different roles available at the firm, and the varied routes into employment.
The day started with a tour of their fantastic facilities, including a fully equipped gym area with showering facilities. The students heard from a number of employees about their own career paths, and how they got where they are today. The students even heard from Moneybarn’s Managing Director, David Shrimpton, who spoke about the importance of doing what you love.
Students then took part in an exciting Dragon’s Den challenge, tasked with designing their own car to be sold on Amazon. The students threw themselves into the task, and each group designed a unique car with multiple benefits. The winning team even designed a logo (featured below) for their brand! Peter Jones missed out on this one!
Finally, students enjoyed lunch in the staff dining room before heading back to school. It was a truly inspiring experience for the students in attendance, with many starting to think about what they’d like to do for a career following the session.
Our practitioner, Jefferson Nash, who was in attendance on the day noted that “in partnership with Vanquis, and with remarkable teamwork from not only the students but also the dedicated staff from all three organisations, our visit to Moneybarn was an inspiring day filled with valuable insights, aspirations, and growth”.
On behalf of everyone here at School-Home Support, thank you so much to all the volunteers at Vanquis Banking Group who made this a day for the students to remember.
